Filkins July News: A big good luck to our pre-schoolers and a huge welcome to our new families

July news
We said a sad goodbye to many of our term-time pre-schoolers last week. Despite the unprecedented lockdown break, all children returned to nursery very happily and have had an enjoyable few weeks together, re-establishing friendships. We wish our preschool leavers continued success at school (do send us a photograph of your child in uniform on his/her first day at school if you have the chance!).
We also said goodbye to Susan, our Nursery Tea Assistant who has left us after several years of supporting nursery in various roles – we will miss your help, Susan. Michelle our cleaner also left us last week. We wish her lots of luck as she prepares to move away.
Lynda, our Preschool Supervisor/Deputy Manager, left us after 20 years at Filkins. We wish her ongoing success as she pursues a career still within The Old Station Nursery Group, sharing her childcare knowledge and experience with other settings as the nursery group continues to grow.
I would like to congratulate Rachael as she becomes our Preschool Supervisor and Nicky as she becomes our Nursery Deputy Manager.
We have also welcomed several new children this week and look forward to meeting more new families during August.
What’s coming up in August
We are still hopeful that we will soon be able to take the children for walks around the village to the local park and woods, but we will continue to enjoy our lovely outdoor nursery environment as much as possible until then. Long may the sunny weather continue!
Other important information
Our Autumn term starts on Wednesday 2nd September. A small reminder that Monday 31st August is a Bank Holiday and the nursery is closed to everyone. On Tuesday 1st September, the nursery will be open for our all year round children.
As you many be aware, we are listed on a nursery review site called Daynurseries. We would be very grateful if you would spare a few minutes to leave us a review. You can do this online, by clicking here. Thank you very much for your continued support.
Louise Jenkins, Nursery Manager
