Welcome to our October newsletter! The children have been making the most of their outdoor space and the current weather changes. We have had lots of fun collecting leaves, sticks and stones from outdoors and making various crafts with them.
The Bunnies (0 – 2) have been exploring with various sensory/messy play activities – such as spaghetti, hay, ice and moon sand. They have also been taking part in Halloween activities; making paper chains, making playdough pumpkins and using recycled materials to make their own bats! The children are also preparing for Diwali and have been exploring with different textured materials.
The Squirrels (2 – 3) have enjoyed cooking activities and helping Andy to prepare snack and dessert. They have been using technology in the garden to take pictures of their outdoor environment and their favourite items in Nursery. The children have been making enclosures for animals, they have been identifying the animals and the noises they make.
The Owls (2.5 – 5) have been learning about the effect exercise has on their bodies through our new club “Usport”, and have been talking about which foods they believe to be healthy and unhealthy. The children have extended this topic by exploring and tasting various fruits and vegetables in the role play area. The Owls have enjoyed learning about the different seasons, growth and decay. They have all planted their own sunflower seeds and have been watering them regularly. The children have also enjoyed preparing for Halloween and decorating the room with their own art work and decorations.
What’s coming up next month
The children are preparing for Halloween and have been decorating their rooms in time for the Halloween party on Wednesday 27th October. Children are welcome to dress up all week as we will be taking part in various Halloween activities throughout the week.
