Innsworth October News: Halloween, Smoothies and Singing

Innsworth October

Welcome to our October Newsletter. The highlights of our month has been celebrating Halloween – carving pumpkins has been everybody’s favourite!

October news

The children have been engrossed at the end of the month in Halloween activities. The children across the nursery enjoyed a Halloween themed party tea on Wednesday 27th October accompanied by Halloween music, stories, and pumpkin carving! The children have also been exploring all things Autumn – collecting Conkers and Autumn leaves to explore in their tuff trays.

The newer children in the baby room have now become familiar with the Tap Tap Box. The children are now keen to choose something from inside that includes a bus, spiders, frogs, and much more, and this indicates what nursery rhyme will be sang next. Singing nursery rhymes and songs daily are especially important for children in the Early Years as their Communication and Language is developing.

The children in the Tots room have enjoyed exploring with water this month. They have explored with tea bags, pipettes, food colouring and different sized pots and jugs to transfer the water around the garden. They have been using paint brushes and water to rub off the chalk on the fences and using dustpans and brushes to brush up the water in the garden.

Some of the Pre-school children told Kylie how they have smoothies for breakfast at home – the Pre-school children then chose what ingredients they wanted and made their own smoothies in Pre-school! They chopped their chosen fruit and yogurt and used the blender to whizz it all together. Delicious!

What’s coming up next month

Some of our children in the nursery celebrate Diwali and we are going to share this together at nursery. The Pre-school children are looking forward to creating their own tealight holders from clay!

The children will be engaging in creating firework pictures and enjoying hot chocolate and marshmallows as a special treat. The older children will also be exploring what it means to be safe on bonfire night and around sparklers.

The children will be exploring the meaning behind Remembrance Day and exploring this through stories and making their own poppies.

On Friday 19th November we will be having a pyjama day and Teddy Bear’s Picnic for children in need.
