Innsworth May News: Fruit, Vegetables and Bread

Innsworth May

Welcome to our May Newsletter. We are as busy as ever at Innsworth and I would like to welcome our new families that have recently joined us.

May news

This month, we have been following the Organix – Explore the Rainbow campaign – supporting practitioners and parents with different ideas to encourage children to try new fruit and vegetables. It is so important for children to experience new tastes, shapes and textures to ensure they begin to develop a healthy relationship with food.

The babies have been fruit tasting with lemons and limes, exploring the fruit and vegetables rainbow. Also this month, they have also been exploring with different herbs in playdough. The babies are encouraged by the team to smell and feel the different herbs before they tip it onto their playdough.

The children in tots have also been exploring and tasting a variety of fruits and vegetables this month, as well as making their own juices. The children were encouraged communicate which fruit and vegetables they liked and disliked.  The children have also been making their own bread, adding garlic and herbs before cooking it in time for their morning snack!

This month in Pre-school, the children have chosen the book ‘The Little Red Hen’ as one of their books of the week. They used this book to enhance their understanding of the importance of helping others. Also this month, the children explored the process of baking bread rolls.

What’s coming up next month

We have another busy month ahead of us. June brings us World Oceans Day on the 8th. The children will be celebrating World Oceans Day to raise awareness of looking after the ocean and our planet.  It is also Father’s Day on the 20th June and to celebrate, the children will be getting creative for the males role models in their lives.

On the 21st June, the children will be celebrating Make Music Day. The children will be encouraged to make their own music using musical instruments. They will also be listening to different types of genres of music and moving their bodies to the sounds that they hear.

Other important information

May half term is from Monday 31st May to Friday 4th June 2021. The nursery will still be open for all year-round children during this time except for Monday 31st May as it is bank holiday.

I would like to remind everyone that Innsworth has an open-door policy. The team and I are available here if you have any queries or concerns.  Please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you all for your continued support.
