I want to start by saying a huge ‘welcome back’ to our families and how much we are looking forward to seeing the rest of our families from the 1st July.
The children have been very happy to be reunited with their friends and staff members; all the children have settled back in well to their nursery routine. Thank you to all parents and carers who have added numerous observations onto EyLog so that the staff could see what the children have been up to over lockdown. It is so important that we are having consistent communication with parents and carers so that we can continue to build those relationships. We thoroughly enjoy seeing observations added to Eylog so that we can continue to follow the children’s interests at nursery and their home experiences.
The Baby Room has enjoyed spending lots of time outside; the children especially enjoyed splashing in the puddles last week. Next week, the children in the Baby Room will be celebrating Children’s Art Week and their art work will be displyed on EyLog for parents to see.
The children in the Tots Room have been exploring in their area of the garden too. They have been taking part in daily bug hunts and listening out for different outside sounds.
The children in Pre-school have been creating their own props to make their own pirate ship. They have also enjoyed exploring as much a possible outside in the garden, making bird feeders, a bug hotel and planting flowers.
What’s coming up in July
Our end of year activities for the school leavers will be slightly different this year and unfortunately, unless government guidelines change, we are unable to have a sports day or ‘graduation’ where parents can attend. Therefore, the Pre-school team will plan an end of year party, within their bubble group, that the children can enjoy while at nursery. We will also be planning a sports day, within bubble groups, for the children to take part in. We will take pictures and film as much as possible to upload onto EyLog.
The Pre-school staff and I have already started to touch base with some of the schools that the children will be attending in September and we will be sending over final summative assessments. Due to the current situation, we are unable to have Reception teachers visit the nursery, so please take advantage of any virtual tours, story times and staff introductions that some of the schools are providing. This will help to prepare the children for the transition.
Other important information
Congratulations to Jessica, Abi and Charlotte on completing their Early Years Initial Teach Training. Carole has completed transitions and settling in training. All staff have either completed the Virtual College Covid-19 Training or CPD Online College Covid-19 Awareness Course.
Can you please provide your child with a named hat as the weather is getting hot again. We will be applying sun cream at nursery.
Summer term for term-time only children finishes on Friday 17th July. Nursery continues to run throughout the summer from Monday 20th July. Nursery is closed on August Bank Holiday Monday. The final day for all year-round Pre-school leavers will be Friday 28th August. If you require any additional care for your child during the summer holidays, do let me know so that I can check our availability. Autumn term begins on Wednesday 2nd September 2020.
Finally, thank you for all your continued support and understanding through this unprecedented time, the staff team and I are very happy to see you all back at nursery.
