It is so lovely to be back in nursery!
We missed the children so much during lockdown but it is fantastic to hear about their family time and what they were able to do whilst at home.
We have made the move into our newly converted preschool classroom and are enjoying the extra space this has provided us with. The children were especially excited to see the final parts of the build take place, including the steam roller in the playground, which was creating a ramp to the new, extra wide classroom door. The final addition to the new space – a large, permanent canopy to provide our outdoor classroom with much needed shade – will be constructed during the Summer holidays. We will keep you updated with how this progresses!
What’s coming up in July
We are working closely with the schools that the older children are moving to in September and have already begun transition meetings with some schools. During July, we will be really focusing on what we believe school readiness to be; for more insight into what we believe school readiness is, see our blog post from April (click HERE to read it).
Although we are not able to have the same family celebrations which we usually would at the end of the school year, the staff team will be making sure that our children still have time to celebrate their tremendous journey through preschool.
Other important information
Congratulations to Carly Barnett who, during the past 3 months, has completed training in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health, Understanding Behaviour that Challenges, Helping Children Cope with Illness and Bereavement, and an Introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences. We will be using all her newly gained knowledge to make sure we are nurturing children’s mental health and wellbeing during the return to the new normal and beyond.
