Heath Mill November News: Diwali, Pudsey and Pyjamas

Nursery children playing indoors

What a busy month we have had here at Heath Mill. The children have had lots of fun taking part in some lovely activities, learning about Bonfire Night and Diwali. We also had lots of fun doing some Pudsey themed activities and coming into Nursery in our pyjamas to raise money for Children in Need.

November news

All the staff and children came into Nursery in their pyjamas or Pudsey tops to raise money for Children in Need. Each room did lots of lovely activities such as finding Pudsey bear in the ice, making their own Pudseys out of playdough and using different materials to create their own pictures of Pudsey; we raised an amazing £40 for such a great cause!

On Thursday 11th November the nursery took part in the two minute silence and created some lovely poppies for Remembrance Day.

This month the Babies have been using lots of different medias such as paint, glitter and chalk to create some lovely firework pictures for Bonfire Night. This has helped enhance their fine motor skills and used their senses to explore the different medias used; most of all they had lots of fun getting messy!

In the Toddler Room they have also been working on their fine motor skills by using lots of different tools and medias. The children really enjoyed using hammers and pincers to break and manipulate the ice to find the pictures of Pudsey that were hidden.

This month in the Preschool Room the children have enjoyed learning all about Diwali. They have taken part in lots of group discussions, making their own rangoli patterns using different coloured rice and also having ago at making their own traditional sweets. The children have been really interested in learning about Diwali and carried this on in their own play here at Nursery.

What’s coming up next month

With December just around the corner we are getting prepared for Christmas and have some lovely days planned for our little ones.

Here are some dates to put in the diary:

The children attending the setting on this day will be making lots of lovely Christmas crafts to take home. Tuesday 7th December we have a special visit from Santa! On Wednesday 8th December we have the Christmas Lunch, our lovely cook Leah will be cooking Turkey and all the trimmings for our yummy Christmas Dinner!

The children will also be offered a nice warm hot chocolate with a cookie! Friday 10th December is Christmas Jumper Day, all staff and children are invited to wear their Christmas jumpers. We are asking for small donations of £1 to help raise money for the Save our Children Charity.

Finally, Friday 17th December is our Christmas Party! Children can come dressed in their party clothes and get ready to dance the day away, taking part in lots of different party games.
