Well, what a selection of weather we have had this month! The children have had lots of fun exploring the many different types of weather that we have been having; from putting their wellies on and jumping in puddles, listening to the thunder and counting how many flashes of lightening they can see, to talking about the importance of wearing sun cream when the sun is shining!

May news

In the baby room this month, the babies have been continuing to welcome some new friends into the setting. The staff have been working hard to make sure the new babies are happand settled, getting them used to nursery life! The children have been working very hard on their Hungry Caterpillar display. They have been creating lots of lovely artwork for it and participating in lots of Hungry Caterpillar themed activities; such as making caterpillars using pasta and tasting lots of different fruits.

This month in the toddler room, the children have been looking at emotions. By using the emotion puppets, the children have been talking about what makes them happy and sad, and talking about it to their friendsThey have also taken part in drawing activities; drawing the things that make them happy or sad and learning how to express their feelings appropriately and  effectively.

Throughout May, the children in Mr Messy’s have been working on their communication and language skills through taking part in lots of discussions about the different weather and what they have been doing at home. They have also recreated role play scenarios, such as making cups of tea; using tea, milk and sugar and talking to each other about how they are making it.

What’s coming up next month

Next month is another fun packed month! The children will be getting very creative and creating some lovely presents and cards ready to give to someone special on Father’s Day. The children will also be helping the team to plant some lovely flowers and plants in the garden and learning how to look after them to help them grow.

The team in baby room will be helping the children explore their different emotions. They will be doing lots of different activities, such as playing with the musical instruments and different medias for messy play to help the children express their different emotions.

In the toddler room next month, the children will be taking part in lots of different role play scenarios such as doctors. This is to help develop their communication and language skills.

In June, the Pre-school children will be looking at shape, space and measure. They will be doing shape hunts in the garden as well as some baking, measuring the different ingredients need.

Other important information

This month, we say goodbye to Jess. We are very sad to see her leave but wish her all the best in her new exciting venture.

Can we please remind parents to provide appropriate outdoor clothing, such as sun hats and sun cream so that the children can explore our outdoor area.

A small reminder that Monday 31st May is bank holiday and the nursery will be closed.

Thank you for all your continued support.
