Heath Mill March News: World Book Day, Red Nose Day and Dressing Up

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

Spring is on its way! Here at Heath Mill, we are very much looking forward to some sunnier weather; we have already started to notice some lovely daffodils growing and cannot wait to see what else Spring has to offer us this year.

March news

This month, we have celebrated World Book Day by dressing up in our pyjamas or as our favourite book characters. The children enjoyed exploring lots of different stories, both new and old. We have also celebrated Red Nose Day and raised almost £90! Thank you to everyone for remembering to wear their red clothes and donating to such a wonderful cause.

Throughout March, our under 2s have been learning all about categorising objects; using different resources such as rubber ducks and other animals to group items together. The Toddlers have enjoyed focusing on a different ‘book of the week’ each week throughout March and have listened to lots of stories throughout the month. Meanwhile, the Preschool children have had a big focus on their literacy and communication skills; they have been looking at books, making predictions and sharing their ideas with their friends.

What’s coming up in April

Next month, we will be celebrating Easter and Spring and would like to invite all the children to create an Easter Bonnet at home with their families! Please do take lots of pictures of the children making and wearing their bonnets for us to see on eyLog

Throughout April, our under 2s are lucky enough to be inviting lots of new babies into their rooms! The children will be spending their days doing some group activities to welcome their new friends to nursery and help develop some lovely new friendships. The Toddlers will be kick starting Spring by getting fit! They will be doing lots of different exercises and learning all about the effects that physical activities have on our bodies. Over in Preschool, the children will be beginning to explore the outdoor environment and discussing the changes they notice throughout Spring. They are also getting very excited about Easter and will be working hard to create some Easter crafts using their fine motor skills.

Other important information

Don’t forget to keep a look out for your child’s report on eyLog to find out all about how well they are developing and all the lovely things we have learned about them over the last term.
