Welcome to our March newsletter! Wow, we have had a busy month.

March news

Firstly, we would like to thank everybody that took part in our Red Nose Day fundraising event and wore red to celebrate the day. We raised a fantastic £45.45 and couldn’t have done it without your support, so thank you all so much.

This month, we have celebrated St David’s Day, St Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day and World Storytelling Day throughout the nursery. In their respective groups, the children have had discussions about what these events are and what they mean. They have also participated in a variety of relevant activities to support the children’s learning about these events.

In March, the children in Pre-school have made cards and sown sunflowers to take home for Mother’s Day. The sunflowers had already started to grow before going home, which gave our pre-schoolers the opportunity to care for the flowers. They took it in turns to water them and ensured that they had enough sunlight to help them grow. This helped the children to understand the importance of the flowers having everything they need in order to flourish. Thank you so much to those families that have also sent photos from home of their child and their sunflowers growing. It is great to see so many sunflowers still thriving!

This month, the children in Bears joined in with Red Nose Day celebrations by colouring marshmallows with red paint and sticking faces onto their own personal red nose! These were taken home  to enjoy with their families! The children in the Ducks room took part in St Patrick’s Day celebrations this month. The children got creative and created their own shamrock paintings. Whilst painting, Lucy, Tracy and Michelle spoke to the children about St Patrick’s Day; what it represents and key points associated with the celebration of the day.

What’s coming up in April

During April, we have Easter to look forward to! We have some very exciting activities planned for the children in the week leading up to the Easter weekend

From the 6th – 10th April, the children will be celebrating National Wildlife Week. In April, the children will also be involved in activities surrounding National Walking Day, National Sibling Day, Wear Pyjamas to Work Day, Earth Day and National Superhero Day. For these days, we will have activities planned and may require some participation from parents – though you will be informed ahead of time!

Other important information

As previously communicated, we will be moving our Facebook page over to join The Old Station Nursery Group’s social media channels at the start of April. Not only will we be on Facebook, but this now means that we will be on Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn too! We will be providing regular content so please do make sure you are following to keep up with all of the fun things that happen in nursery.  Follow us by clicking here for Facebook, here for Instagram, here for Twitter and here for LinkedIn.

Thank you all for your continued support.
