Harpole July News: Bird Watching, Woodland and Sandy Play

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

We would like to welcome all our parents and especially our new parents to our monthly newsletter. We hope you have all enjoyed the lovely warm weather we have had over the last week. This month has been a busy month as we have been having our refurbishment done across the setting. We will keep you all updated with the changes as they happen throughout the nursery!

July news

In the Preschool room we have been exploring our new classroom! The children have been looking at the story “Paper Dolls”, working in groups to re-enact the story.  To further this interest, the preschoolers made their own paper dolls following a step-by-step guide; folding the paper and using their scissor skills to cut them out and decorate them. The children have also been making the most of the sunshine in our woodland garden, using binoculars to see what they can find in the sky, describing and attempting to name the birds. The children picked leaves off the trees and described how they felt, their size and their colour to peers.

In the Toddler room, the children have been on a nature trail in our woodland garden! The children each had a checklist with images of nature on to try and find. Once finding the items, the children described the texture and the colours they could see.

The Babies have been engaging with lots of sensory play in July, exploring the texture of sand using their hands. They have also been developing their fine motor skills, by using spoons to fill and empty the containers. They have also been making the most of the warm weather exploring the water using the vehicles to see what marks they make.

What’s coming up next month

Next month we look forward to celebrating Raksha Bandhan, the festival that celebrates brotherhood and love on the 22nd of August! We will also be celebrating the Islamic New Year from the 19th – 20th of August. We will be celebrating the summer Paralympics on the 24th of August – 5th of September, linking to preschools theme of the month ‘things that make us unique’.

Other important information

We are pleased to be able to welcome Preschool parents to our Graduation next month on the 12th of August 2021! We are so glad that you will all be able to attend, but please do remember to remain socially distanced and wear a mask. We look forward to watching the children graduate with you all then.

We just wanted to remind you of our Refer a Friend scheme. When you refer a friend and they join the nursery, we will thank you with a £100 discount off your next invoice. We know that you are always recommending us, so we just wanted to say a big thank you for your referrals. There is no limit on referring your friends, so please do refer as many people as you like! We are always very grateful for your support and look forward to welcoming more of your friends into our nursery family. For more information and terms and conditions, speak to the Nursery Manager.

Thank you for all your continued support.

Lauren Freund, Deputy Manager
