We kicked off February by stepping straight into National Storytelling Week. The children throughout the whole nursery enjoyed various ways of listening to stories; from story sacks for the little ones, right through to preschool recalling their favourite stories from memory to tell their friends during group time.
The children across the nursery have celebrated Valentine’s Day this month, with the children keeping busy making crafts, artwork and cards to take home. After lengthy discussions of who to give them to, I think the children all finally decided on someone they loved who was very deserving of their creations.
Chinese New Year came next, with a buffet style tea, fit for royalty! The prawn crackers were definitely the real winner all around the nursery, they disappeared almost immediately! The children then got a sweet treat a few days later in the shape of pancakes, for Pancake Day, which all the children got to enjoy.
In the Ducks’ room, the children have been very creative during February, using bubble wrap and paint to make some very beautiful umbrella art to brighten up their room. This was to celebrate National Umbrella Day on the 10th February!
Meanwhile, the children in Bears celebrated National Pizza Day on the 9th February by lovingly putting together their own pizzas, with toppings of their choice for them to enjoy for their tea.
Whilst the pre-schoolers took to the streets to spread some cheer to celebrate National Random Act of Kindness Day on the 17th February. The children popped their very own handmade cards and a small bouquet of flowers on to doorsteps around the village and also to anybody they met along the way.
We also took part in the #ThumbsUpForEarlyYears campaign this month as a whole nursery and we were delighted to see lots of our children with their grown ups supporting the campaign also, thank you so much.
What’s coming up in March
Next month, we have an array of days to celebrate, including St David’s Day on 1st March and St Patrick’s Day on the 17th March.
We will also be celebrating World Book Day on the 4th March. Please feel free to send your child to nursery dressed as their favourite book character that day, maybe we will have some staff dressed up too!
We also have Mothers Day coming up on the 14th March to which I am sure you will receive some lovely surprises from your children.
What a busy month we have ahead!
