Welcome back to all our children, parents and staff and here’s hoping 2009 will be a good year for all of us. Last year certainly included a fair amount of doom and gloom and at times it seemed hard to stay positive amidst all the negativity that appeared everywhere. However, children are delightfully recession-proof and very little gets them down, especially with all the excitement of the Christmas season.
Everyone is now back and settling down to a new term and a new year. We are continuing to build on the Early Years Foundation Stage and will have more staff training going on at all the nurseries as we review progress to date. Julie Swann, our Operations Manager who co-ordinates all our training, is working with the nursery managers to make sure that we are sharing the best examples of practise between all the nurseries. We have just recieved the OFSTED inspection report for The Old Station Nursery at RAF Benson which makes really good reading, despite the dubious pleasure of having a full inspection during the week before Christmas when festive chaos usually reigns!
I have recently been approaced by a company who supply CCTV systems to nurseries, with a view to using the recordings for two purposes; firstly for staff training and protection from allegations, secondly with an option for parents to log in and see what is going on in the rooms. I have mixed feelings on the subject and it always raises heated debates when I have talked to colleagues and other nursery companies about it. I’d love to hear what you think about, so do let me know if you have any thoughts. In the meantime, best wishes for a very Happy New Year to you all.
