|Welcome to our June newsletter, and a special welcome to all of our new parents. The nice weather has been so lovely this month, and we really have made the most of it with lots of outdoor play in the garden We hope you’ve all had a great month, and enjoy reading what your little ones have been up to!
In June we celebrated Pride month. The children created and painted their own colourful pride flag on the playground floor using chalk paint and discussed the meaning of pride – to always be loving, kind and accepting to one another. The other activities which were thoroughly enjoyed following the children’s interests included role playing in the ice cream parlour, washing the cars in the carwash and creating a bee habitat to help save the bees.
All the children have also been very creative, making some lovely gifts ready to give to their special person on Father’s Day.
The preschool children’s primary school teachers have started to visit the children in their nursery environment, which is very exciting! To say goodbye and good luck to the children leaving, we have planned a preschool leavers celebration on the 1st July, where we have invited all the preschool children to join us to experience an interactive science workshop by Bright Sparks. This will include a science experiment show and three hands on science activities – one of which they’ll be able to take home!
What’s coming up next month
We will be welcoming Kate Wise to Filkins. She will be stepping into the deputy and 2-3’s room leader role. Kate has been with the company since September 2020 and will be transferring over from Bampton. Her first day with us will be on Monday 5th July. We are really looking forward to her starting her new journey with us. We will also be welcoming lots of new children in July to join our forever growing nursery family- we are really looking forward to meeting them!
Over the next few weeks, the children will be starting to practice for our sports day races which will be videoed for parents to watch on eyLog.
Other important information
On the last day of term (Friday 16th July) we will all be having a fun filled day and weather permitted a visit to the park.
If your child is leaving nursery at the end of the summer term/end of the summer holidays, please can you email nursery to confirm their final day with us so we can have everything ready to say our goodbyes.
It’s been brought to our attention that parents have been parking very close to the entrance and exit gates to the nursery. To ensure everyone has a clear view of traffic and to allow easy access, please can we kindly ask you to leave a large gap either side of the gates. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Please can we remind you to cut grapes, tomatoes and other fruit and veg which are similar sizes in half and length ways, to reduce the risk of chocking.
Some important dates for your diary: for term time children- the last day of term is Friday 16th July. For the children who are all year round the summer holidays start the w/c 19th July. Nursery will be closed on bank holiday Monday 30th August. The last day of the summer holidays will be on Wednesday 1st September. Finally, the start of the Autumn term is on Thursday 2nd September.
