We would like to welcome some new children and their families to our Filkins nursery. I hope you are all settling in nicely. The children certainly seem to be settling in well; making new friends and creating bonds with the nursery team.
Thank you to all of the parents who have kindly brought in gifts for the staff, we really appreciate them.
This month has been busy as always!
We celebrated Chinese New Year with all of the children across the nursery. The children engaged in a number of activities to learn about the Chinese culture which developed a wide variety of skills. The children enjoyed sensory play using rice and noodles, playing different roles in their Chinese restaurant, and dressing up in traditional Chinese attire. They engaged in a number of crafts by creating dragons, exploring Chinese writing and through a number of painting opportunities.
The children also thoroughly enjoyed Shrove Tuesday this month. The children had pancake races on the field which they really enjoyed and had delicious pancakes for their tea, with a variety of healthy toppings.
For Valentine’s Day, the children made some special gifts for their loved ones and got very messy in the process! We hope that these brought a little smile to your face.
In February, very sadly, we had to say good bye to Buddy, one of our guinea pigs. He was incredibly old and had a great life at the nursery, looking at everyone and having lots of cuddles from the children.
What’s coming up in March
In March, we will be celebrating World Book Day which is on 4th of March. This is a really fun day and we can’t wait! Please dress up as your favourite character and bring in your favourite book to nursery on this day.
Next month, we will also be celebrating Mother’s Day which is on the 14th March. The children will be making some lovely surprises for their mums, aunties, grandmothers or someone special.
Marie Curie’s great daffodil appeal takes place next month as well. We invite all children to wear yellow on Wednesday 24th March and donate £1 if possible. The children will be planting daffodils and participating in lots of daffodil crafts as well.
Other important information
Thank you to all our families for being patient and understanding with us through these uncertain times. Sadly, we are still under strict guidelines and appreciate your help and support in keeping the children and staff safe. The staff are working so hard to keep up with good hygiene and cleanliness throughout the nursery. I am sure you would join me in thanking them all for their hard work.
We have a new Spring/Summer tea menu, if you would like a copy of it, please send us an email.
Please note the following holiday dates:
Easter Holidays: Thursday 1st April and return to nursery on Monday 19th April
Bank Holidays: We are closed for all children on Friday 2nd April, Monday 5th April and Monday 3rd May
