This month has been a busy one! We have been extremely fortunate to have experienced some lovely weather and so the children have spent a lot of time outside exploring.
This month, the children did a fantastic job completing their daffodil doddle, raising a grand total of £1471.90 for Marie Currie. Thank you again for supporting this fantastic cause. We were blown away by the total amount raised, thank you all so much.
To celebrate Easter this month, the children participated in several Easter egg hunts, created a variety of crafts and took part in our Easter bonnet competition. There were some very inventive and creative bonnets, we were all very impressed.
Rosie has very kindly offered to rehome two chickens for nursery. Their names are to be confirmed, we are sure the children will have something to say about this! They arrived today – Friday 30th April – and we cannot wait to introduce them to all of the children over the next week.
Last weekend, we hosted a nursery open day for new/prospective parents. It was a great success; finally being able to open up the setting for families to see as well as meeting new families.
What’s coming up next month
Next month, we hope that the sun continues to shine so that we can spend as much time outside exploring as well as getting to know our new chickens! Throughout May and over the next few months, we will be preparing the children to transition from 2-3s to pre-school and from pre-school to primary school.
Other important information
If your child is going to school in September, you should have now found out if they have secured their school place. It would be much appreciated if you could let your key carer know which school they are going to. Very exciting times ahead!
Donna will be returning from maternity leave on the 10th May and will be starting off by working every Monday until July. After that, she will be in nursery every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the 2-3s room.
We will be saying a sad farewell to Sophie on Friday 14th May. Sophie is off to pastures new and we wish her every happiness and success in her future career.
Sally and I have recently been on a paramedic first aid training refresher course. It was very informative and resourceful. I will be quizzing the staff over the next few weeks to test their knowledge and ensure they are up to date with all of the latest information!
Now that the sunshine is slowly making an appearance, please can I ask you to bring in a named sun hat to stay at nursery for your child. Please can we also ask you to apply suncream before your child arrives at nursery. We will then re-apply our nursery suncream, which is Boots Soltan kids 50+, throughout the day when needed. If your child requires their own suncream (due to sensitive skin, allergies etc) please can you provide us with a named bottle to also keep at nursery.
Please can I also remind you to name all your child’s belonging.
With regret, we won’t be holding our ‘normal’ sports day this year due to little time to prepare following government guidelines. However, we do hope to plan a little sports day just for the children (unfortunately with no spectators), and this will be photographed and videoed for you to view on eyLog and social media.
It’s that time of year where most of us will be having a good spring clean around the house. If you have any unwanted crockery or kitchen utensils that you think will be suitable for the children to play with, we will gratefully accept them for our home corner and mud kitchen.
Just a small reminder of a few important dates to remember:
- Bank holiday Monday on the 3rd May 2021
- Half term the week commencing the 31st May 2021
Thank you all for your continued support.
Nicky Griffin, Deputy Nursery Manager
