What a busy month its been at Fen Drayton! This month we have had fun celebrating lots of different festivals from all around the world, taking part in a variety of skill-building and learning activities.
Each room has been doing lots of fun activities and celebrating a range of different festivals; the children celebrated Diwali and Bonfire Night with some creative arts and crafts, supported Remembrance Day with plenty of Poppy pictures, and also for Children In Need, where they dressed in spotted clothes. The children also enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving with a turkey dinner, and learning about the start of Hanukkah.
In the Sunbeams Room, there’s been lots of activities to develop creative skills, language, and knowledge of the world. The children have had fun with plenty of baking activities, helping to develop mathematical skills when it comes to measuring ingredients.
Preschool have been learning about healthy eating and exploring the Eatwell plate, sorting foods into the different areas. The children have been developing their phonics, exploring the letters I and N, and bringing items from home with the corresponding letter! Next months letters will be C, K and E.
Finally, Barney Bear has been on many trips this month, by going home with many of the children, and everyone has listened to lots of stories about his adventures!
What’s coming up next month
Next month, the children will be celebrating the Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, and Christmas with lots of festive activities and crafts.
Each room is having their own Christmas concert this year. The Stars Room have their Christmas Concert on the 13th and 16th of December. This will be a sing along with parents, and starts at 5.30pm in the Stars Room. The Sunbeams Room have their Christmas Concert on the 6th and 9th of December, and the children will perform in the preschool room from 5.30pm. Preschools Christmas Concert is the 2nd December in the Preschool Room from 5.30 pm.
Please be aware that if the children in Stars and Sunbeams Rooms Concerts may end up becoming one day, rather than two, if there is not enough children attending. For the concerts, the children can dress up as festive as they would like!
Everyone will be celebrating Christmas Jumper day on the 10th December, and the team are looking forward to seeing all the children’s Christmas jumpers. Also, on the 15th of December there will be a Christmas lunch and we would like the children to wear their Christmas jumpers again on that day. We will be having a Christmas party on Friday 17th of December, so party clothes are welcome on that day as well!
Other important information
Thank you to all the children that have donated to Children In Need. We really appreciate your support, for a charity that is so close to our hearts!
One of our team members, Savannah has decided to leave us, in pursuit of a new career path. We wish her the very best of luck! We would also like to welcome Katerina to our team! She will be joining us on the 13th December in the Baby Room, and she will also cover in the other rooms as well.
As a reminder, please can we make sure all clothes are named when you bring them to nursery. It makes it easier to return them to the rightful owner! It’s also the time of year for warmer coats, wellies and hats to come in as well, so make sure everything is labelled correctly.
The end of term next month, is the 17th of December, and we look forward to seeing you back again in January after the winter break.
For children who normally attend on a Friday, this year for Christmas eve we are closing at 1pm, so the team can spend some quality time with their families. Can you please let us know in advance if your child will be attending or not that day.
This month, we have received a lot of new reviews on Daynurseries, Google and Facebook. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such lovely reviews. They are hugely appreciated by our team! If you haven’t had the chance to write a review yet, you can write one on Daynurseries by clicking here, on Google or on Facebook. Thank you for your continued support!
As always, please remember to check out our social media posts with photos and content about what’s been happening at the nursery. You can find The Old Station Nursery on Facebook and Instagram, as well as some other social media websites.
