We have had a busy month and have so many things to mention, so we will keep this newsletter to our most exciting, best bits!
The children continue to impress us daily with unfaltering resilience to the changes that life is throwing us all. Perhaps it’s the sense of routine, familiarity and their friends that makes them sparkle and shine. But of course, we do have the most amount of fun and mess, and we know that you are all missing contact with us as much as we miss that contact with you.
The Toddler team have decided that we should put together a short film to show you our classrooms, so that you can all, once again, enjoy the works of your children and we can show you our classrooms; the creativity, the challenges and the resources that we have. Please do keep an eye out, we will be updating our virtual tour as soon as possible.
The artwork and craft projects in the rooms have covered everything from Halloween to Diwali, fireworks, and, of course, as we begin to think about Christmas, it will be glittery in all directions.
As a group of nurseries, we were blown away with the fundraising done in all of our nurseries across the country for Children in Need. Together, The Old Station Nursery Group raised almost £1000 and we would like to thank all of our parents for your support in helping make this possible.
In November, we were also very lucky to be the winners of the Faringdon Rotary Halloween Scarecrow competition. Our Funny Bones skeletons were a big hit.
What’s coming up in December
The December plans have changed somewhat, however, we have all decided that what we really must do is make every day an experience of utter joy for the children. We will be doing lots of lovely activities as we progress through the month and we will also be taking part in The Old Station Nursery Group Christmas Advent Challenge. Each day in the lead up to Christmas, one nursery within the group will take part in a Christmas challenge and post a photo or video to our social media channels. We welcome parents to join in; tag us and use the hashtag #OSNAdventChallenge. For more information, take a look at our social media channels!
On Friday 4th December, we will be holding an Elf Day. We invite children to come to nursery dressed as an elf and we will have lots of Elfie related activities throughout the day. This is to raise awareness for the dementia society.
Friday 11th December is National Save The Children Christmas Jumper Day. We will be taking part in this so don’t forget your Christmas jumpers! If you would like to donate to the charity, there will be collection points available on the day, but we do appreciate, having donated already for Children in Need, you may not wish to donate, and that is perfectly ok too.
On Wednesday 16th December from 9.30am – 11.30am, we will be hosting individual room parties. This will also be our Christmas lunch day. We welcome all children to dress in their party clothes, Christmas Jumper or anything festive!
We are also participating in the Faringdon Silver Star Challenge. On the 18th December, our beautiful silver star will be on display, so that could be a fun thing to track down on a walk.
We have been asking for food bank donations, thank you to all who have donated so far. This will be a much needed lifeline for some and your ongoing support is appreciated. The final day for collections is Friday 18th December.
Other important information
As with all holidays, do let us know if you will be in attendance or away over the festive period. It will allow us to arrange staff holidays and plan effectively.
Term ends for all term time only children on the 18th December, returning on the 4th January. Nursery will close to all other families at 1pm on the 24th December, back to normal on the 4th January.
