Faringdon January News: Dinosaur Swamps, Sensory Activities and Ice Structures

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

January news

January has been and gone in the blink of an eye. As you all know, it has been particularly challenging for us this month; having to isolate two rooms at nursery saddened us all and although we had come so far, we had hoped to be unscathed by the virus. Our nursery team remained in good spirits and the children that attended received our full attention, as always. I’m sure you will all agree that the team are doing the most fantastic job.

Nursery, although quieter than normal, has given us many enjoyable moments this month; from exploring dinosaur swamps and playing with ice structures to creating huge painted creations in the garden – everything was purple at one point! The children in preschool, I am sure, will pick up on their interest on the Antarctic and continue to explore its wildlife and climate.

Our youngest children in babies continue to settle in so well; we warmly welcomed many new families in January and all our new babies have loved exploring lots of sensory activities. Whilst we have been in this third lockdown, our children in toddlers have taken over the iPad to capture photos of our outdoors space. The picture at the top of our newsletter this month is one of their very own photos.

What’s coming up in February

February continues in much the same vein; we will continue to do our very best to care for your little ones and keep them safe. We are sure that,  with all of your continued support, we will triumph!

We have had an exciting delivery of our new mud kitchen, complete with giant scales and a lovely new chalk board for our Preschool garden wall. For those that haven’t seen, we have had a canopy fitted over the Preschool garden, so that the children can continue to be outside in all weathers under shelter.

Throughout February, we will be celebrating a number of events to extend the children’s learning through engaging and exciting ways. We will be celebrating Chinese New Year with a number of theme led activities. We plan to hold a Chinese banquet on Friday 12th February which we are all very excited about! And, of course, February brings two of our favourite celebration days, Valentines Day and Pancake Day. We are all looking forward to a number of creative activities to celebrate these two events.

Other important information

Please continue to use the hand sanitiser before entering nursery grounds and continue to wear face masks. Please be reminded of the one parent collection rule; we do not want groups of people gathering at the doors. Please do not send your child to nursery if they are unwell.

We know that our fantastic families are always recommending us to their friends, so we want to say a big thank you for your referrals! As of Saturday 23rd January 2021, when you refer a friend and they join the nursery, we would like to thank you with a £100 credit off your next invoice. We know you have lots of friends so there is no limit! We are always very grateful for your support and look forward to welcoming more of your friends into our nursery family! Terms and conditions apply so please speak with me to check these.

Finally, thank you for all the kind words and support that has been shown to our unwell staff members and us as a team. It is appreciated by us all.

As always, if you have any queries or questions, big or small, please do ask.

Steph Dorling, Nursery Manager
