Faringdon April News: Daily Mile, Water Fights and Sensory Play

Faringdon April News

Welcome to what is soon to be May! With a record number of frosts this month, we really hope that May brings some sunnier days and a warmer feel. We have welcomed so many new families to our setting this month. It is great to see the children settling in so well and we really do hope you find everything as you would expect. Please do ask should you have any questions, we are happy to help!

April news

We have managed to cram so many things into April, including highlights such as St George’s Day and Earth Day.

Throughout April, the children have been enjoying the outside spaces, exploring the frost, snow and beautiful sunshine! The children in Preschool have reignited the daily mile and have taken great delight in this. They have boundless energy and we love watching them run at length – high fiving at each end.

The Toddler children and team will probably tell you that the impromptu water fight that took place this month in the garden was one of the best days. The shrieking and screams of delight could be heard all around as the children paired up to jump out with buckets of water and hoses to surprise the staff team. It was completely spontaneous and so much fun was had by everyone!

This month, the Babies have been making beautiful sun catchers and butterfly prints as well as exploring lots of sensory play with water, paints and foams. The children have also been making the most of the sunnier days, enjoying being outside, exploring their environment.

The Babies have also welcomed lots of new faces to the room this month and it’s been a pleasure getting to know you all, welcome to our little family. Throughout April, we have also seen many of the Babies turn two. It seems near on impossible but there you have it, they are now Toddlers! As such, they have been taking settling sessions with planned moves to the Toddler team. We will miss them but we are very excited to see the children flourish on their next little adventure!

What’s coming up next month

The whole nursery are gearing up for our summer events throughout May. We really hope that we are able to host our annual sports day and family BBQ once again this year – keep everything crossed. We also have school leaver parties and graduations to plan.

But, before any of that excitement, we will be celebrating May Day with our own fete day celebrations at the nursery. There will be lots of traditional type games and activities taking place on Tuesday 4th May.  We will also be hosting a Father’s Day celebration with a little daddy day surprise takeaway breakfast on Friday 18th June. But shhh, we didn’t tell you that!

Other important information

The senior team took part in some online training considering the new framework coming into effect from September 2021. Not only is the framework changing, but the curriculum will be as well. We will keep you all posted on these changes and what it means for learning across the setting.

We would like to remind parents that our car park is small, so please be mindful of how you drive in and how you park your car. We are still not allowing parents and visitors into our rooms, therefore, parents are often queuing outside. Please be mindful of this when parking and if you are arriving at peak timesdo consider walking in if you are very local or using the car park at Tescos

Also, a pre reminder that our inset dates for this academic year are being taken together in July. We will be finishing our term on Friday 16th July

Thank you all for your continued support.
