Throughout July, we have been taking part in lots of themed activities based on construction. The children have created structures using so many different resources, both indoor and outdoor!
The children have also been making bug hotels for the many insects that they have found in the gardens. The children were so attentive, being so careful with their fragile little bodies, learning lots of things about what they like to eat and how they can make their homes comfortable for them.
The children participated in a lovely Sports Days which all children took part in! Even the youngest members of the Sandhills family joined in. And, of course, the children had yummy ice lollies to cool down afterwards. Every little person was awarded a special medal for taking part.
We have been sadly but proudly preparing for our pre-school children to spread their wings and go off on their new adventures at ‘big school’. We are cherishing every moment and celebrating the children’s time spent here at Sandhills very much right now. With parties in full swing!
We have recently starting cooking from a brand new and improved menu. The smells coming from the kitchen are really lovely! There’s such a nice variety of healthy fresh ingredients; previously we’ve shopped with Tesco but have recently moved over to Creed and I cant reiterate enough how good the quality of food is. The staff are taking home the recipes to cook for their own families, it’s that yummy!
What’s coming up in August
During August, after we have said some goodbyes to many of our families, we welcome our families from holiday club. It’s always lovely to have this mix of older children as they bring a new element of play to our younger children which they love. We even get to see some of the children who used to come to Sandhills but ventured off to ‘big school’, so we are always so happy to see them again when holiday club comes around.
I have a few plans up my sleeve to ensure August is a really fun month for the children here at Sandhills, that may include some walks in the local forest as well as picnics and ball games on the local playing field! Lets see where the weather takes us.
