Welcome to our April newsletter! We hope that you have all managed to enjoy some of the lovely sunshine we’ve been lucky to have over the last few weeks. The sun definitely brightens our days in more ways than one; the children have been able to enjoy lots of garden time, with the water and sand trays outside remaining a definite favourite.
Thank you to everybody who took part in our Easter Bonnet competition. It seems so long ago now but we had some brilliant entries. You all worked so hard in making them unique, we were all blown away by the creations.
The babies have enjoyed a range of Easter themed activities during April, taking part in some cooking activities which they thoroughly enjoyed mixing and scooping the ingredients. The children took part in sensory trays which included hiding plastic chicks, feathers and cereals inside eggs.
This month, the babies have been very creative! The children have been finger painting to create pictures of flowers and bees for their room displays.
The children have shown interest in exploring tuff trays and treasure baskets, so the team are working hard to plan more of these and follow the children’s interests.
At the very start of April, the Toddlers learnt about Holi festival which was focused on colour. The children enjoyed creating colourful pictures, using lots of different coloured glitter.
The children have been fascinated this month by the wildlife in the garden, watching all the different birds that stop by the bird feeders. The children created their own representation of birds using feathers, googly eyes and scissors. Next month, to continue the children’s’ interest in birds, they are going to create their own bird feeds and nests for the garden. This activity will also encourage the children’s use of numbers as they will be keeping count of how many birds they spot each day.
In Preschool this month, the children have been taking time to study flowers and have been busy creating their own representations. There has also been a strong interest in superheroes which has been extended in the children’s play and through all areas of their learning.
The children have been working on their phonics to help fully prepare them ready for going to school in September. This is something that will continue in the coming months. The team will also be promoting an interest in using electrical equipment in cooking and food preparation next month.
What’s coming up next month
We are looking forward to a Teddy Bears Bubble Picnic on Thursday 20th May where we are inviting the children to bring in a teddy bear to join their picnic. This event is taking place to help raise awareness and funds for Cracker Jacks children’s charity. The children will take part in a variety of activities and will be making a treat to take home after their bubble picnic. Any donations will be very much welcomed and appreciated. All proceeds will go to the Cracker Jacks charity. Please feel free to take a look at their website to read about all the amazing things they fundraise for.
Other important information
Please can all children have sun cream and sun hats in nursery each day so that they can go outside safely, as the weather is picking up and some days can begin cold/wet but then dry and warm up as the day goes on. Sun cream and hats can come daily or if you prefer to leave them at nursery, please clearly label them and give them to a member of the team.
To all of our Preschool parents whose children will leave us this September to go to school, if you haven’t already, please let us know which school you have accepted a place for so we can look into assisting transitions and also begin to prepare the children by having conversations about their new school. Thank you!
Thank you all for your continued support.
