Bampton September News: Space, The Big Draw and Halloween

September news

We would like to say a big welcome to all of our new families as well as saying welcome back to all of our term time only children.

The children in the Coral room have been exploring their emotions throughout September. This was inspired by one of our new books, The Colour Monster. It has encouraged the children to think about how they are feeling and how objects and life matters make us feel. It has become a firm favourite!

The children in the Baby room have been very busy creating space themed artwork. They have been exploring different sensory experiences, such as ‘feely bags’, sensory bottles, space blankets, gluing items and sticking things together. They have also looked at a lot of space themed books; looking at pictures of different planets, astronauts, the moon and sun.  The children have also been doing lots of singing, music and movement. Running like a rocket and walking slowly like an astronaut.

What’s coming up in October

In the month of October, the whole nursery will be taking part in The Big Draw. Throughout the month, the children will have the opportunity to create large pieces of art using different methods, with the aim to make a large mural at the end of the month to showcase.

We are looking forward to the change in season throughout October and excited to carry out some autumnal activities. We are hoping to be able to go out on some walks in our community, observing the changes in the environment.

On Friday the 23rd of October, we will be having a Halloween Party. Your child is welcome to come to nursery dressed up.  We will be doing some party games and putting on a disco.

Other important information

The nursery as a whole are now doing in the moment planning. This is a new way of working for all the staff. Hopefully this will be good change for children, parents and staff.

The team here at Bampton has changed a little.  Sophie has now taken on her role at managing both the Bampton and Filkins Nursery. Sophie will be based at Bampton on Tuesdays and Thursdays and then in Filkins on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Katie will be based in the office when Sophie is not there.  Sophie is still available through email or by phone if you would like to speak to her whilst she is at the Filkins Nursery.

We would like to say a farewell to Emily, who worked in the Coral room. I am sure you will join us in wishing her lots of luck. Kate has now joined us in the Coral room as a Nursery Practitioner. She is working towards her Early Years Teacher Status. Welcome to The Old Station Nursery Family.

I would like to remind parents not to park in the school car park in the mornings (as you enter to the car park to the left) as this is the school car park used for teachers. However, it is ok to park in there after 4pm if there is space. There is plenty of parking on the side of the road.

Can I please ask that if your child is not going to come to nursery, please let us know by 10am. If we have not heard from you, your child’s keyperson will phone you to see if you are all ok.

We are closed for term time only children from Monday 26th October and reopen again on Tuesday 3rd November. This does not affect children that attend all year round. If there are any term time children that need extra sessions during this week, please contact me and I will see if we have any availability.

If you have time, we would be very grateful if you could leave us a review on Daynurseries. You can do this online by clicking here. Thank you for your continued support.
