November news

What a great, and busy, month November has been. The children participated in a number of national and international celebrations which provided new learning opportunities.

The children in Rainbow room have been singing the month away! As well as a lovely activity, singing can support language skills, with practitioners modelling language and encouraging the children to join in with the actions. The children have taken part in activities surrounding World Nursery Rhyme week as well as enjoying playing a variety of musical instruments. ‘Row Row Row Your Boat’ is a firm favourite, with the children perfecting the scream at the end.

The children in Coral room thoroughly enjoyed celebrating and participating in Bonfire Night this month. Bonfire Night was super busy for the children as they participated in a number of different activities to complement their learning. The children made a campfire and toasted their marshmallows. The children were fascinated by the sparklers, enjoying the colours, patterns and shapes that they could make.

What’s coming up in December

Christmas is only a few weeks away which is very exciting! Unfortunately, we will not be able to hold our annual songs at the church. We will, however, be having a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings on the 15th, 17th  and the 18th of December. We will also be having a little party on these days, ensuring that every child is able to attend at least one of these celebrations. Please do come dressed in your party wear or Christmas jumper.

In the run up to Christmas, we will be carrying out exciting crafts and activities making this time magical and memorable for the children.

We will also be taking part in The Old Station Nursery Group Christmas Advent Challenge. Each day in the lead up to Christmas, one nursery within the group will take part in a Christmas challenge and post a photo or video to our social media channels. We welcome parents to join in; tag us and use the hashtag #OSNAdventChallenge. For more information, take a look at our social media channels!

Other important information

We would like to say farewell to Rebekah, the Room Leader of the preschool room.  Even though she has not been with us long, she will be thoroughly missed.  Rebekah has taken a teaching position and we wish her all the best. Katie will be returning to the Coral room, returning as Room Leader.

The last day of term, for term time only/funded children will be Friday 18th December. The nursery will close for all year-round children on Christmas Eve at 1pm.  The nursery reopens on the 4th of January, this is an inset day so only open for all year-round children.

You will have seen that all nurseries within The Old Station Nursery Group have a fogging machine. This piece of equipment ensures that we can maintain our high standards of cleaning with ease.

Please can I remind parents that our nursery fees are due on the 1st of each month, for that month. I understand that it may have been quite a challenging time over the past few months, especially with the uncertainty of Covid and the repercussions of it. If you are having difficulty keeping up with payments, please come and talk to me, this may prevent the £25 late payment charge being added to your monthly fees.
