Bampton May News: Bears, Singing and Fine Motor Skills

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

Hello everyone.  Here we are again, the end to another month, they come around so quickly! I would like to welcome our new families and children that have started in the month of May!

May news

This month, both the baby and 2-4 room had a fantastic time at the Teddy Bear’s Picnic, we even saw a bear! The children took part in the bear crafts, making their own bear masks and having a bear disco. They particularly enjoyed the sensory bear hunt in the garden, involving all the different textures from the book. At lunch time, the children were joined by a big bear and enjoyed having their picnic.

Throughout May, the baby room have really enjoyed having a song time before lunch time. They all sit down together and choose a song from the song box. The children have been learning the actions to “The Wheels on the Bus” and other nursery rhymes – but the wheels on the bus is a firm favourite!

This month, in the 2-4s room, the children have been concentrating on their fine motor skills. The children have been doing some brilliant cutting out, using tweezers to place pom poms into small containers and making marks.

We would like to say a big farewell to Sophie, who has now left the setting. Katie has taken over the role of Nursery Manager.  We have also said goodbye to Hannah, and wish both Sophie and Hannah good luck in their new adventures. Please if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask Katie or the other members of the team, we are here to help and support you all.

We have also welcomed a number of other nursery team members this month! I would like to say a big welcome to Alisha, who is in our baby room. Alisha is NVQ Level 2 and works Monday, Tuesday and Friday. A warm welcome also to Sarah, who is our lunch cover and works in both the baby room and the 2-4s room, everyday 11:30 till 2:30. And also to Kirsty, who has started with us as a Nursery Assistant and works in both rooms when needed.

What’s coming up next month

In June, we are looking forward to celebrating Father’s Day. The children will be creating lots of lovely artwork for someone special. In addition, the Baby room will be planting vegetables in a pot and giving them as a lovely gift!

The children will also be learning all about their teeth and keeping them clean! Teeth brushing is very important and we will be using our giant mouth mould to practice teeth brushing. Along with discussing why it is important to care for our teeth.

In the Baby room next month, the children will be exploring their baking skills. Using healthy fruit and their gross motor skills to mash the fruit and make their masterpiece!

Other important information

Due to the weather brightening up, the children are looking forward to sunny days in the garden with lots of water play, so please can parents ensure that children are coming to nursery with named sun hats. If you would prefer your child to have their own sun cream, please provide this again named. Your child’s spare clothes bag may need replenishing with some summer vibes. Could we ask that you please name your children’s clothes.

Half term is fast approaching, starting on Monday the 31st May for a week. Monday the 31st May is also a bank holiday so the nursery is closed to all.

Thank you all for your continued support.
