Bampton August News: Animals, Science and Space

August news
Throughout August, the babies in Rainbow room have been exploring different types of animals, such as sea animals, mini beasts, farm and zoo animals. The children have done lots of artwork, creating their own animals, using a variety of resources, different colours and textures. The children also went for a walk onto the school field and collected lots of natural items and made a beautiful bug hotel. A ‘peek a boo’ board was made, with different doors and flaps to open; the pictures inside were changed each week.
In preschool this month, the children enjoyed STEM week and took part in a variety of science experiments. Their favourite experiment was the Cola and Mentos mix, watching the bottle erupt! The children have also really enjoyed spending some time in the quiet sensory room, looking at the different textures of materials as well as playing with the light table.
What’s coming up in September
We would like to welcome all the new families to our nursery! We have new children starting in both of our rooms, so lots of new friends for our children to meet.
The children in our Rainbow room will be looking at ‘Space’ this month, creating lots of rockets and planets. They will also be exploring this topic through looking at books and pictures.
The children in the Coral room will be looking at ‘All about Me’, learning that we all have similarities and differences. We will be discussing our families, homes and which customs/celebrations we celebrate. This helps with the children’s understanding of the world, their community and people around them.
