August News: Science, Sport and Litter Picking

SF August

Welcome to our August newsletter! August has flown by in a flash and the children have loved getting involved in lots of fun activities and going on adventures in the local community. We have been saying a fond farewell to our children who are leaving to start school and would like to take this opportunity to wish the children and their families are the best for the future. We hope you will stop by and say hello from time to time, we would love to see you. We would also like to give a warm welcome to all our new families who have joined the nursery.
August news

In our Caterpillar group (2-3 year olds), this month we have enjoyed exploring the theme of science. The children loved doing the orange volcano activity and exploring what happened. They have enjoyed exploring the theme of magnets and investigating what the magnets would stick to around the room. When the magnets stuck to things they found this really funny!

In our Butterfly Group (3-5 year olds), this month they thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Olympics/Paralympics. They loved having their own Olympics in the garden and came up with their own sports to take part in and made their own podium to celebrate completing the races!

They have also enjoyed visiting the local park to help  our local community group called “Friends of Leigh Library Gardens”. During their visit they learnt about the importance of keeping the park clean and loved using litter picker to put any rubbish they found in the bin. They are learn how to plant and take care of the flowers. The children have really enjoyed this experience and cannot wait to go back and help!

What’s coming up next month

During September we are looking forward to getting out in the local community on some different adventures.

We also are looking forward to celebrating National Recycling week and learning about the importance of keeping our planet clean and tidy.  During the week we will be encouraging the children to look at what they are putting in the bin and whether they feel it can be recycled. We will also be talking about how items can be given to charity shops and how these items can be reused by someone else.

We are also going to be taking part in ‘Talk like a pirate day’ and details about how we will be taking part will follow soon.
