We have had a very busy month throughout October and have enjoyed the change in weather this has given us the opportunity to explore our lovely setting in Autumn. Our children have been out collecting leaves and other things from their environment to explore, and we have enjoyed playing out in the rain and jumping in puddles!
Our baby rooms have been doing lots of sensory play this month using slime and Gelli bath mixture, the children really enjoyed exploring the different textures and finding hidden things inside. We have also been on lots of walks collecting leaves and twigs for our Autumn displays. Our older baby room have been working on developing speech and language and have introduced some very simple Makaton signs such as “Thank you”.
Our Mischiefs room went for a lovely walk around the village to see the scarecrows and decide to make our own and proudly displayed it outside of nursery.
This month our toddler rooms have really enjoyed doing lots of Autumn activities like making hedgehogs using play dough and pasta and leaf collages. Our toddler room have also been getting ready for Halloween by doing a science experiment with pumpkins and bicarbonate of soda; the children really enjoyed watching the mixture expand!
This month our pre-school room have been having a spooktacular month making pumpkins, ghosts and spiders, we have enjoyed carving a pumpkin and talked about how the textures felt inside the pumpkin. We have also enjoyed exploring our new touch table completing puzzles, drawing and playing games.
What’s coming up next month
Next month we are looking forward to celebrating Diwali, Bonfire night and Remembrance Day. The children will be taking part in lots of activities to gain an understanding of these festivals and events.
Our pre-school will be starting to practice their nativity play which we are really looking forward to the main performance which will be held at the village hall in December, details to follow.
We will be putting up our Christmas decorations up towards the end of November and we are excited to see all the lovely artwork and displays.
