Alvechurch March News: Crafts, Spring and Supertato

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

Hello to all of our lovely families. We hope everyone is safe and well. The sunshine is finally on its way and here at Alvechurch the children have noticed our lovely flowers blooming in our outdoor planters!

We would like to give a massive congratulations to Charlotte in babies room for receiving employee of the month this month for all of her hard work and settling into our team here at Alvechurch so well.

We would also love to welcome back Liz from her maternity leave. Liz is running Mr Mischiefs on the baby suit floor and has settled right back into our team.

March news

This month, we have enjoyed celebrating Mother’s Day with the children. The children have made some beautiful gifts and enjoyed getting creative whilst making them. The children also celebrated St Patrick’s Day this month by coming in to nursery dressed in the colours green, orange and white. The children also enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the day, such as tuff tray games, baking, drawing to stories and dancing. The children all had a wonderful day.

Throughout March, the Babies have loved getting stuck into lots of fun filled activities such as baking, using a variety of tools and resources, as well as learning lots of new everyday words. The children have also enjoyed some free expressive painting, water play and sand play. They have enjoyed exploring the garden and field space, thanks to the warmer weather. The children have been exploring the outdoors with some of the resources to help support them with their walking skills.

This month, the Toddlers have been looking into Spring by observing the natural environment and changes. The Toddlers have loved making their own bird feeders after observing the birds several times from the window. The children have also been showing a lot of interest in mini beasts. This led to a mini beast hunt in the natural garden where the children used the magnifying glasses to find lots of different insects.

In March, the children in Preschool have found a new favorite story book called ‘Supertato’. The children have been exploring this story book through a variety of activities, such as the tuff tray, where the children created their very own super vegetables, self-portrait drawings of the super vegetables and role play too. The children have enjoyed this book so much that they have even created their very own display about it.

What’s coming up in April

On 1st  April, we are looking forward to celebrating National Rainbow Day which is on Saturday 3rd. We are going to be dressing up in as many colours as possible to shine as bright as our very own rainbows. The children will also be enjoying lots of craft activities too throughout the day.

Throughout the month, we will be celebrating Easter with the children. The children will take part in an egg hunt and our Annual East Bonnet parade too. We are very much looking forward to seeing all the children’s Easter Bonnets.

We will also be celebrating St George’s Day, where they children will be enjoying a range of different craft activities and role play.
