Firstly, welcome back to all our families. We hope you all had a lovely Christmas break. We are continuing to work hard to ensure the environment is safe for our children, families and nursery team. We love seeing all of the children’s happy little faces every morning and we are so pleased to be able to continue to provide them with fun learning experiences everyday.
This month, our babies have been exploring mark making with shapes and paint. The babies have been using their hands and enjoying the different textures that they could feel. The children have also enjoyed making lots of different zoo animals crafts, such as Elephants, zebras, and giraffes. The babies have been learning about the different sounds the animals make, helping to extend their vocabulary.
Our toddlers have been looking a lot into winter weather and winter animals throughout January. The children have enjoyed a range of different activities, such as making ice catchers and decorating them with berries, fir tree branches and some flowers. The children then left their creations outside over night to freeze and went back to them the next day to see what changes had happened. The children spoke about what they could see and enjoyed hanging them on the trees. They loved watching as the sun caught them. The children have also made some wintry animal crafts such as, polar bears, penguins, snowy owls, snowflakes, and foxes.
The pre-schoolers have been enjoying lots of baking this month with Sarah and Kelly. The children have been measuring the ingredients and seeing how the scales work to show this. The children have also been looking at being safe when using kitchen equipment and heating ingredients during the cooking process. The children all really enjoyed making their delicious treats, but most of all tasting them at the end, who would have thought!
What’s coming up in February
Throughout February, there are lots of fun and exciting events to celebrate! We will enjoy making pancakes with the children for Shrove Tuesday as well as looking into healthy eating and holding group discussions to talk about this. The children will also be designing what they want their pancakes to look like.
We shall also be celebrating Chinese New Year, exploring lots of different activities so that the children can investigate numbers and letters in Chinese. The children will also be looking into other ways this event is celebrated and the traditions that take place within the Chinese culture.
Other important information
Please be vigilant with your households’ symptoms during this time. A slight cough, a change in taste or smell, and even a headache can be a sign of coronavirus. Please get tested and do not send your children to nursery if they or yourselves have any kind of symptom, until a negative result is received. If you do test positive, please ensure you let us know at the earliest possible time. Thank you again for all you support and understanding during this time.
Please make sure to follow us on our Facebook page and Instagram page. We upload a lot of photos of all the wonderful activities we have been up to throughout the week so make sure you don’t miss out on seeing these!
We know that our fantastic families are always recommending us to their friends, so we want to say a big thank you for your referrals! As of Saturday 23rd January 2021, when you refer a friend and they join the nursery, we would like to thank you with a £100 credit off your next invoice. We know you have lots of friends so there is no limit! We are always very grateful for your support and look forward to welcoming more of your friends into our nursery family! Terms and conditions apply so please speak with me to check these.
Finally, please can I remind parents to ensure children have warm coats as we spend a lot of time outside and the weather is still very cold!
